Golf in Wainwright, AB

Soldier On, in collaboration with the Wainwright Golf Club, is hosting the Soldier On Golf Camp in Wainwright, AB. on June 22-23. This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

This event will provide an opportunity for Soldier On participants to learn basic golfing techniques through instruction and coaching.

This is open only to registered Soldier On serving or retired members in the Wainwright geographical area. There is no cost and assistance is provided in registration and filling out the waiver if requested. Travel assistance is not provided for this event as it is in the Wainwright area.  Participants will be provided with group lunches, hosted by the Wainwright Golf Club.

Instruction and mentoring will be provided by the staff of the Wainwright Golf Club, located in Wainwright, AB.

Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of the Club Pro, Josh Copeland and the Wainwright Golf Club.

June 22
  • 10:45 a.m. – Participants arrive at the Wainwright Golf Club
  • 10:50 a.m. – Welcome brief/prep
  • 11 a.m. – Golf Instruction
  • 11:55 a.m. – Lunch
  • 12:55 p.m. – Group Photo
  • 1 - 1:30 p.m. hrs – Group tee-offs
  • 5:45 p.m. – Golf Complete
June 23
  • 8:30 a.m. – Golf Instruction
  • 9 - 9:30 a.m. – Group tee-offs
  • noon – Lunch on the turn (after the front nine)
  • 3 p.m. – Golf complete
  • 3:15 p.m. – Satisfaction Survey / Wrap-up.
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 16.

Minimum eligibility criteria
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Wainwright Geographical Area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving Members
Medical clearance may be required by your chain of command.

Mental & Physical Requirements
  • Participants must be able to tolerate four to six (6) hours of moderate paced activities.
    • Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
  • Participants must be able to swing a golf club without issue or must not be in violation of their MELs.
  • Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
Nomination Forms must be received by Soldier On no later than June 6th, 2022.
